Community Involvement

Recently a group of volunteers assisted one of the people we support sort through in his words, his “organised chaos”. The volunteers were able to provide this person with a tidy garage and workspace whilst removing hazards such as broken glass, trip hazards, and chemicals from his home. Not only that but we were able to assist him find some treasured possessions that he thought he had lost. This gave us a great opportunity to make a small difference to an individual’s life. Something that we are working on doing on a regular basis.

Here are some ways you can get involved with Paradise Community Care:

  • Volunteering on Weekends to assist with maintenance, decluttering and general up keep at the homes of people we support
  • Acting in a supervisory capacity for our Work for the Dole Programs commencing on July 20th, Monday through Wednesday, as ongoing programs for the next 5 years, due to our connection with Job Prospects and Status Employment Services
  • Helping in the Day Programs, such as;
    • Coffee / Chat / Craft
    • Life Skills
    • Mens Shed
    • Bingo / Games / Jigsaws
    • Singing
    • Guest Speaker at our Forums
    • Acting Groups
    • Movie Outings
  • Providing Transport to and from our day programs for the people we support – so many of them miss out as they cannot get themselves to and from due to cost or lack of available transport
  • Voluntary administration support for our office staff
  • Providing donations of craft materials for our day programs and morning tea items for our day programs, (packet items not home-made)
  • Taking out one of the people we support for an afternoon coffee at the shops, or for a stroll down to the beach – our office staff already volunteer their time half a day each month and these activities have been accepted with open arms by all those involved so far.
  • Sponsorship / Cash Donation for our day and school programs
  • Donations of materials for the Work for the Dole Programs;
    • Café – food items for daily sandwiches, coffee, milk, sugar etc
    • Gardening Tools
    • Stationery items
